Beware Your Carlos Mencia tickets may be dangerous. Carlos Mencia has made his reputation by laughing at anyone and everyone, including himself. Not afraid to take on social issues or society in general, Mencia brings his own special view of the way things are to the stage every night. But that attitude keeps comedy fans coming back for Carlos Mencia tickets over and over again.
Growing up as the seventeenth of eighteen children would no doubt require a sense of humor, and Carlos Mencia is proof of that. Born October 22, 1967 in Honduras, Mencia was later sent to live with his aunt and uncle, who raised him in Eastern Los Angeles. He attended college at Cal State Los Angeles, majoring in electrical engineering, but dropped out when he was just one credit short of earning his degree to pursue a career in comedy. Soon he was performing his stand-up routine at such venues as the Comedy Store, the Laugh Factory, and the L.A. Cabaret. While touring the comedy circuit, Mencia also made an appearance on Buscando Estrellas (a Latino version of America’s Star Search), where he was awarded the title of International Comedy Grand Champion.
Carlos Mencia continued to advance his career through a number of television appearances, including guest spots on In Living Color, The Arsenio Hall Show, and An Evening at the Improv. In 1994, he served as host of the HBO series Loco Slam. These regular appearances continued to keep Mencia in the public eye. In 2000, Mencia released his first of seven comedy albums, Take a Joke, America, on the Warner Brothers label. The following year, he served as the headliner for the Three Amigos tour alongside fellow comedians Freddy Soto and Pablo Fransisco. He maintained his presence on cable television, starring in such comedy specials as Comedy Central Presents: Carlos Mencia in 2002 and, more recently, Carlos Mencia: No Strings Attached in 2006. Over the years, Mencia has lent his talents to several sitcoms, including The Proud Family, The Shield, The Bernie Mac Show, and Moesha. He currently stars in Comedy Central’s Mind of Mencia, which hit the airwaves in 2005, and he is also working on the feature film Farce of the Penguins, starring the likes of Lewis Black, Dane Cook, Norm MacDonald, and others.
Mencia has been the target of much criticism, as he often finds himself under fire for his straightforward, no-nonsense approach to comedy, frequently addressing such sensitive topics as racism and ethnic stereotypes. While he may not always be politically correct, Carlos Mencia’s uniquely insightful and honest approach to comedy has made him wildly successful among today’s comedians.
Mencia is on the prowl again. If you think you can handle it, we’ve got the Carlos Mencia tickets you’re looking for.
