Much to the relief of the fans of frozen pond action, NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs tickets are back on the wheel this spring (Schedule announced early April). After a well-publicized year off, the league returns for the 2004-2005 season to whip NHL fans into frenzy with the bone crunching, sharp shooting which can only come from match-ups of the National Hockey League’s greatest. The year of contract settlements has shuffled the deck of the NHL with notable retirements, blockbuster trades and changes to the rule book, the quest for the cup will be anything but predictable. All of these factors combined with the historical grandeur of a seven games series played under legendary banners inside of hauntingly epic stadiums make NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs tickets a must have in 2006.
If expectations were met this season, it would certainly not be the first amazing playoff ride in the NHL’s illustrious history. But more importantly perhaps in the minds of fans, is the prospect of starting another of the league’s storied dynasties. Perhaps more than in any other sport, the tradition of love and addiction to hockey is steeped deeply in team’s previous year’s dominance. The most amazing of these reigns is undoubtedly that of the Montreal Canadians of the middle to late 1950’s. Led by monstrous figures such as Dickie Moore and Jacques Plante, the Canadians won five consecutive Stanley Cup titles from 1956-1960, loosing on five playoff games in that span. Granted Montreal fans, the team has not known near such success in the Pengrowth Saddledome, but as with the mighty tide, the ebb and flow of the NHL is constantly on the move.
A more modern and perhaps the last true example of a dynasty in the NHL is that of the Edmonton Oilers. From 1984-1990, Edmonton epitomized what it was to be a hockey dynasty. Collecting five Stanley Cup Trophies in that span, the Oilers respective rosters of the time were littered with names of unforgettable talent and those that changed the face of the game forever. Record holders such as Grant Fuhr, Marty McSorley, and Adam Graves skated along side with hall of fame legends Mark Messier and“The Great One” Wayne Gretzky to make Glen Sather’s Edmonton Oilers one of the greatest hockey dynasties all time.
Sky Reach Center in Edmonton pays homage to the above mentioned greats and the memorabilia serves as constant inspiration to those who don the team’s sweaters today.
NHL Stanley Cup Playoff tickets return to our great nation and with them the hope and dreams of all the blue line fanatics from years past as well as those in training. The excitement of the events often nullifies the import of the surroundings, but the great stadiums are not to be overlooked during this year’s contests. Such staples as Joe Louis Area and the Pepsi Coliseum house fans that carry expectations of deep playoff runs. And despite a year’s hiatus, those who call the Ice Palace in Tampa home see the prospect of a repeat Championship and the dream of becoming one of the league’s great dynasties almost too much to stand. So, with arms wide open, fans old and new welcome back the players, the game, and legacies in the making which all sum up to the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. |
