Event Information
Edmonton Oilers tickets are a staple of North American ice hockey history. Rarely in any sport does a team and its parts leave such an indelible mark on the game which they play. The Oilers have contributed to hockey lore on many levels. Many of those still hearken back to the 1980s when the Oilers were an untouchable group playing hockey on a level not yet found by other clubs in the National Hockey League.
The Oilers won their first of 5 Staley Cups in 1984 with the prowess of a young phenom who would later become “The Great One”. Wayne Gretzky came into the NHL with a skill set and a vision that no player before him had possessed or knew could be achieved. During that dynasty starting season, Gretzky scored 74 goals and led the Oilers to a 57-18-5 season in route to a 4 games to 1 victory over the NY Islanders. Gretzky was joined on that squad by other greats such as Paul Coffey, Mark Messier and Jari Kurri. John Muckler’s squad culminated the dynasty in 1990 winning a fifth Stanley Cup Trophy in seven years. Again Jari Kurri and master of the game Mark Messier took the helm of the good ship Edmonton and after a mediocre 38-28-14 season the Oilers cruised through the playoffs to face the a mighty Bruins squad and dispatched them handedly 4-1 to bring an end to an era of hockey dominance that has not been replicated in the modern era of ice hockey.
