Event Information
As the 2006-07 hockey season begins, one item sure to be on fire are Philadelphia Flyers tickets. Coming back from fifth place in last season’s standings, the team is gearing up with some new changes in the works. Led by Head Coach Ken Hitchcock, the Flyers intend to step out onto the ice in Cingular Pavillion this winter ready for a win.
Since their beginning in 1967, the Flyers have proven themselves a powerhouse in the NHL. Their more recent past shows that, that status hasn’t changed. In the middle of their 2000-01 season, the team was taken over by coach Bill Barber. That season the team finish well with a 43-25-11-3 record. However, their run in the playoffs didn’t last long, as they were taken down by the Buffalo Sabers in six games. When their 2001-02 season came around, the team picked up free agent Jeremy Roenick, who would lead the Flyers in scoring. But when it came time to play the Ottawa Senators in the playoffs, even the best of efforts couldn’t seem to get points on the board for the Flyers. Finally after five games they were taken down by the Senators, winning the first but losing the next four. It was after this season that Head Coach Barber was fired and replaced with present coach Ken Hitchcock. Under their new coaching staff, the team saw an exciting first round of the playoff season. The Flyers played a neck-and-neck seven game series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, in which the final game ended 6-1 in their favor. However, once again the team would be cast out of the playoffs by the Ottawa Senators, a loss that would in turn lead to the trade of goalie Roman Chechmanek to the Los Angeles Kings. Once again making the playoffs in the 2003-04 season, the team faced season-long rival the New Jersey devils, who they took down in only five games. Second round saw the team facing the Toronto Maple Leafs. Their masterful defeat on the Leafs would send them to the Conference Finals. Finally the team was sadly taken down in the Finals by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Last year’s season saw the Flyers losing in the quarterfinals with a score of 4-2.
