Phoenix Coyotes may have been something of a disappointment in 2005-06 but the fans that fill Glendale arena in the 2006-07 season will have a lot to look forward to as the Coyotes rebuild for the future through the draft. After a bundle of trades too confusing too get into the Coyotes eventually ended up with the eight overall pick in the NHL Draft. That pick resulted in the selection of center Pete Mueller in the first round to go along with a number of other promising young players possessing the speed that Coyotes management seems to prefer. With the speed of the game increasing every year, Coyotes ticket holders should be reaping the rewards in the very near future.
Pete Mueller went into the draft as the WHL’s top prospect. Playing for the WHL’s Silvertips Mueller distinguished himself with a 26 goal, 32 assist season and captured Rookie of the Year honors. He’s also a veteran of the U.S. National Team Development squad and the World Junior Championship, where he was the youngest player on the team.

In 59 games with the U-17 and U-18 squads, Summers racked up 17 points and sent considerable time at he forward position. Slated as a defenseman, Summers has excellent speed and handles the puck well.
