Team Information
Pick up Pittsburgh Steelers tickets and head out to Heinz Field to see if the champs can defend their crown. After last year’s surprising run to the Super Bowl, head coach Bill Cowher won’t settle for anything less than a return trip. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is looking to put an offseason motorcycle accident behind him and return to the form that helped bring a fifth Super Bowl title to Pittsburgh. He’ll have to do it without Pittsburgh legend, running back Jerome “The Bus” Bettis, who called it quits after grasping the first Lombardi Trophy of his illustrious career. Versatile wide receiver Antoine Randle El also jumped ship and will be providing his services to the Washington Redskins in the 2006 NFL season. Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward and first-round draft pick Santonio Holmes should help make up for those losses. On the defensive side of the ball, hard-hitting linebacker Joey Porter and ferocious safety Troy Palamalu bolster one of the league’s top defenses. Will it be enough to punch the Steelers’ ticket to Miami’s Dolphins Stadium, site of Super Bowl XLI? Find out by securing your Pittsburgh Steelers tickets today.
Last year, the Steelers stumbled into the playoffs and weren’t considered much of a threat. They outlasted AFC North division rival Cincinnati in the first round, knocking out Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer along the way. But, with a trip to Super Bowl-favorite Indianapolis next up, the Steelers’s season was expected to come to an end. In improbable fashion, Pittsburgh, led by Roethlisberger, blew into the RCA Dome and stunned the Colts to advance to the AFC Championship Game. The magical playoff march continued in Denver. After a 34-17 thrashing of the Broncos, the Steelers, amazingly, were headed to Detroit’s Ford Field, for Super Bowl XL. Roethlisberger didn’t let the NFL’s biggest stage distract him. The second-year signal caller from Miami (OH) led the Steelers to a 21-10 victory. Running back Willie Parker also played a major role in the victory. The young speedster burst through line early in the second half and sprinted to a 74-yard touchdown run, the longest in Super Bowl history. Ward finished with more than 140 yards receiving, including a touchdown on a beautifully thrown pass from Randle El on a reverse. It was icing on the cake for the Steelers.
A repeat performance won’t be easy this year. The Steelers must contend with the brutal AFC North, which features the rising Cincinnati Bengals, the improved Baltimore Ravens and up-and-coming Cleveland Browns. Pittsburgh’s schedule also features showdowns the Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders. But with Roethlisberger hooking up with Hines Ward all over the field and with Porter and Palamalu roaming on defense, Cowher knows he has the tools and equipment to build another Super Bowl-caliber team. The Steelers won’t be sneaking up on anyone this year, and Pittsburgh Steelers tickets, as usual, will be at top of every NFL fan’s wish list. So don’t mess around. Make plans to be in Pittsburgh this season with Pittsburgh Steelers tickets.
