Team Information

When Seattle Seahawks tickets gave long suffering Seattle football fans a trip to the Super Bowl the whole city was flying high. After Super Bowl XL was over it was time to come back down to earth. Yes, the Seahawks had a rough time with the officiating and yes Mike Holmgren was making some noise after it was all over but those issues have been put into the past. Now the Seahawks have the enviable task of avoiding the post-Super Bowl blues that have plagued teams in the past. The fact is, exactly none of the last five Super Bowl losers made it back to the playoffs in the following season. The Seahawks should avoid that fate quite easily. In fact, there’s every reason to believe that the road to Super Bowl XLI will once again go through Qwest Field. That confidence has fans snapping up Seahawks tickets like, well, like the Seahawks might be going to the Super Bowl again.

The first indication that Seattle was still in good shape came in the form of the re-signing of running back Shaun Alexander. The NFL MVP inked his name to a contract that spans six years and could eventually put $62 million in his pocket. Big numbers, but Alexander has proven himself worthy. The Alabama product has scored almost 100 touchdowns in his five years in the NFL and set an NFL record by notching 28 in 2005. He’s a key element in the Seahawks offense and the Seattle braintrust kept him in the fold for a long time to come.

Matt Hasselbeck is coming back in 2006 with something to prove. The Pro Bowl QB is totally in control of the Seahawks offense. He moves well and can throw on the run as well as any quarterback in the NFL. His mastery of the game allows him to read a defense before the snap and make adjustments on the fly, giving opposing defensive coordinators headaches. The fly in the ointment is that Seattle will have to make some adjustments to keep Hasselbeck healthy. The loss of Steve Hutchinson on the offensive line and Hasselbeck’s safety valve Joe Jurevicius may hurt. But that problem could resolve itself if Nate Burleson, signed as a free agent from Minnesota pans out and Floyd Womack does an adequate job replacing Hutchison. Anyway, Holmgren doesn’t seem worried.

On defense the Seahawks will be improved. The Seahawks led the NFL in sacks in 2005 despite some doubts about the defensive line early on. Grant Winstrom and Bryce Fisher at defensive end gives Seattle a dependable rush while Rocky Bernard is a run stopper in the middle. By signing Julian Peterson away from the 49ers, the Seahawks now have a linebacker who can both rush the passer and cover receivers. With Lofa Tatupa, who went to the Pro Bowl as a rookie, and Leroy Hill boasting 7.5 sacks, the Seahawks are set at linebacker for a long time.

Seahawks ticket holders are going to be enjoying a winning football team for a long time. Mike Holmgren has put together a franchise that excels from top to bottom. While the lesser players may come and go, the foundation of Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander will keep Qwest Field packed for years to come and make Seattle Seahawks tickets something every NFL fan longs for.
