Team Information

What a ride it’s been for NFL fans with Washington Redskins tickets. While skeptics crowed when Gibbs finished his first season at 6-10, the Redskins retooled and came out of the gate running in 2005, ending up at 10-6 to end the regular season. A first round playoff victory provided further evidence that Gibbs hasn’t lost his touch. The good times have returned to Fedex Field and Washington football fans are fighting to get their hands on 2006 Redskins tickets, hoping Gibbs can take his team all the way to Miami and Super Bowl XLI.

Once again, the Redskins owner Dan Snyder, has proved his willingness to buy whatever talent he needs to make sure that happens. In the offseason, Gibbs and the Redskins solved their problems at wide receiver by signing Brandon Lloyd of the San Francisco 49ers and taking Antwaan Randle El from the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. The swift footed duo will join Santana Moss, who carried the load for Washington with 84 catches and 1,483 yards in 2005. Don’t forget Chris Cooley either. The tight end was featured prominently in the Redskins passing game, catching 71 passes and topping 700 yards through the air. The addition of Randle El and Lloyd gives Washington a dynamic quartet for Mark Brunell.

Speaking of Brunell, the 36 year old gunslinger gives the Redskins a proven performer at the wheel. 2005 was his best season ever as he tossed 23 scoring passes and only 10 interceptions on his way to a 3,000+ yard season. Despite his gae the ‘Skins felt confident enough to rid themselves of Patrick Ramsey and use 2nd year man Jason Campbell as a backup. Brunell will be leaning heavily on Clinton Portis to provide another outstanding season and keep defenses honest. Portis, who rushed for 1,516 yards in 2005, finally seems comfortable in his role as a featured back.

While the personnel problems seem to be solved, Snyder made his most important moves elsewhere. The Redskins nailed down two of the NFL’s best assistants by hiring Al Saunders, formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs, and hanging on to defensive coordinator Greg Williams for the next three years. Saunders may be the hottest offensive coordinator in the league right now and his wide open offense will make both Portis and Brunnel, along with the wide receivers, a much more productive bunch. Williams, considered a leading contender for a head coaching spot, brings stability and experience long term.

With Washington seemingly on the verge of a breakthrough season, Redskins tickets are more popular than ever. That says a lot when the waiting list for season tickets is already a marathon that can last for years. Joe Gibbs has molded the Redskins in his image, with a top notch offensive line coached by long time NFL assistant Joe Bugel, and a veteran quarterback who won’t make many mistakes. Football fans in Washington demand a competitive football team and Joe Gibbs is delivering just that. But whether the ‘Skins end up in Miami or not, Fedex Field is sure to a hotbed of NFC East action as the Giants, Eagles, and the hated Dallas Cowboys all bring their “A” game when the have to face the Redskins. The rivalry alone is enough reason to line up your Washington Redskins tickets well in advance.
