Team Information
For the last couple of years, NFL football fans that have been lucky enough to get their hands on Baltimore Ravens tickets have probably left the game shaking their heads and thinking the exact same thing: “Boy, if the Ravens could ever get some solid play at quarterback, they’d be tough to beat.” Baltimore head coach Brian Bellick agreed and he did something about it this offseason, bringing veteran signal caller Steve McNair from the Tennessee Titans. And just like that, Ravens tickets became one of the hottest NFL tickets around.
McNair is the perfect solution for the Ravens’ quarterback dilemma. He arrives at M&T Bank Stadium with 12 years of NFL experience under his belt, not to mention more than a 100 touchdown passes. He’ll try to lead a helping hand in the mentoring process of quarterback Kyle Boller, while also ending his career on a high note. The former league MVP, McNair took the Titans to the Super Bowl in 2001. He’ll be looking to punch the Ravens’ ticket back to the NFL Playoffs, followed by a trip to Miami’s Dolphins Stadium, site of this year’s Super Bowl. But it won’t be easy.
The AFC North, which contains defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh, reigning division champ Cincinnati, and an improving Cleveland Browns team, is one of the toughest divisions in all of the NFL. The Ravens’ non-division schedule is no cakewalk either. The Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills will each visit M&T Bank Stadium during the 2006 NFL campaign.
To contend with that brutal of a schedule, the Ravens will need McNair to energize what has been a stagnant offense over the last few years. He’ll a familiar face to help the cause in former Tennessee teammate and leading receiver Derrick Mason. Second-year wide out Mark Clayton, Baltimore’s top pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, showed signs of brilliance in his rookie campaign. The former Oklahoma Sooner hauled in 44 passes and scored a pair of touchdowns. Running back Jamal Lewis also will be expected carry the load on the ground. Despite battling a nagging ankle injury, Lewis rumbled his way to close to 1,000 yards and will look to return to his form of only a couple years ago when he led the NFL in rushing.
While the Ravens’ offense has been inconsistent at best, Baltimore’s defense remains one of the most tenacious in all of the NFL. Led by linebacker Ray Lewis and ball-hawking safety Ed Reed, the Ravens’ defense is loaded with playmakers. The addition of pass rushing specialist Trevor Pryce from the Denver Broncos to go along with Terrell Suggs only intensifies the Ravens’ defensive reputation.
The acquisition of McNair added to Baltimore’s vaunted defense instantly made the Ravens’ Super Bowl contenders. Will Bellick be able to put all the pieces together and lead the Ravens to a second Super Bowl title? Is McNair the Ravens’ ticket back to the NFL Playoffs? Baltimore Ravens tickets will provide all the answers.
