The fans in Atlanta were ecstatic early in the 2005 season. Atlanta Falcons tickets were flying out the box and the Falcons seemed poised for greatness. After advancing to the NFC Championship in 2005 behind the high flying Michael Vick, Atlanta got off to a roaring start by winning six of their first eight games. But then the air in the Georgia Dome turned sour as the Falcons struggled in the last half of the season and lost six of the next eight games to end the year at 8-8. The problem? The Falcons defense crumbled. So in 2006 the Falcons placed a special emphasis on the “D’ in the offseason and the result is going to be a real treat for Falcons ticket holders.
Defensive end John Abraham will be prowling the Georgia Dome as a Falcon in 2006 after Atlanta sent their #1 draft pick to New York. Abraham provides a much improved pass rush, and lining up alongside Rod Coleman and Patrick Kerney, the Falcons will be better equipped to handle the premier running backs that dominate the NFC South. Remember, this is a division that features Cadillac Williams, Reggie Bush, and the Panther’s DeAngelo Williams. Along with Abraham, the free agent market also yielded Lawyer Milloy and the Falcons traded for former Cleveland Browns safety Chris Cocker. The 2nd round of the NFL draft gave Atlanta Virginia Tech cornerback Jimmy Williams. With Milloy and Crocker in the middle, and Williams lined up across from Pro Bowl cornerback DeAngelo Hall, the Falcons pass defense took a huge step up. Falcons ticket holders won’t be throwing burnt toast at their secondary in 2006.
Michael Vick is of course the focal point of the Atlanta Falcons. Vick suffered through a sub-par year in 2005, mostly the result of a knee injury he suffered against Minnesota. The injury resulted in Vick’s running yardage dropping to less than 600 yards. More importantly though, Vick’s passing isn’t developing as many think it should. Now considered a veteran quarterback, Vick completed only 55% of his passes and threw for a meager 15 touchdowns while giving up 13 interceptions. To deliver on his potential those numbers need to improve. Still, there are few, if any, quarterbacks that can deliver excitement like Michael Vick. One of the games best runners, Vick has burned many a defense by pulling the ball down and using his speed and elusiveness to gain yardage. Perhaps he shouldn’t be measured by the same yardstick as other quarterbacks.
Fans with Atlanta Falcons tickets can be assured of a pounding running game though. The Falcons led the NFL in 2005 behind a career best year by Warrick Dunn. Dunn punched his ticket the Pro Bowl by rushing for 1,416 yards. At 31, and after 9 years in the NFL, the Florida State product is still going strong. Atlanta looked to the future by drafting Jerious Norwood of Mississippi State. The speedster blew away the competition in pre-draft workouts and holds the record for yardage gained at his alma mater.
Your 2006 Atlanta Falcons tickets provide what no other NFL ticket has to offer: A day with Michael Vick. Vick is something special and there’s no dismissing his importance to the Atlanta Falcons. On the turf of the Georgia Dome Vick is deadly. Head coach Jim Mora has surrounded Vick with all the necessary tools on offense, but more importantly, backs him up with a solid defense that will keep the Falcons phenom on the field. Spend a day with Michael Vick. Get your Atlanta Falcons tickets today.
