Team Information
Philadelphia Eagles ticket holders have enjoyed some great years. Season after season the Eagles have found themselves in the NFL Playoffs. It seemed like only a matter of time before Andy Reid brought home a Super Bowl victory to the City of Brotherly Love. Unfortunately for Eagles’ fans the teams recent trip to the Super Bowl was followed by one of the most disastrous and controversy filled seasons ever endured by an NFL club. At the heart of it was the ego of Terrell Owens. After leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl, it only took Owens a few short months of bad attitude and loudmouth sound bites to ruin a top notch NFL team. But Owens won’t be gracing the field at Lincoln Financial Stadium on a regular basis anymore. It took Reid about two seconds to suspend the enigmatic T.O. in 2005, and the Eagles cut their problem loose shortly after the season ended. T.O. ended up in Dallas and Eagles tickets for the game against the Cowboys on October 8th are as scarce as T.O. jerseys in South Philly.
The Eagles will recover nicely in the 2006 NFL season but not just because Owens is gone. Philly had other problems, including the loss of half their starters over the course of the season due to injury or lack of performance. Just getting those guys back will go a long way towards healing the wounds of an improbably poor season. The most important Eagle to regain his form will be Donovan McNabb.
McNabb’s verbal battles with Owens were really the least of his problems. Certainly it didn’t help, but McNabb’s real problem was the effects of the sports hernia he suffered along with other nagging injuries. After electing to have the problem fixed during the season, the Eagles real leader returns healthy in 2006 and it’s hard to underestimate the value of McNabb behind center. This is a quarterback who has led his team to the NFL Playoffs every season he’s been on the field full time. Despite the presence of Eli Manning and drew Bledsoe, Donovan McNabb is undoubtedly the best quarterback in the NFC East, a factor that could determine which teams in the division are still playing after the regular season ends.
But it’s not like the Philadelphia Eagles have no quality receivers. Expect second year man Eddie Brown to step up and become McNabb’s primary target. In his rookie season Brown caught 43 passes and notched four touchdowns. He’ll be even better with a year of experience under his belt and McNabb chunking the ball rather than journeyman Mike McMahon. Greg Lewis returns, and the Eagles added Jason Avant out of Michigan in the 4th round. All in all, the wideouts will be solid.
More important to the Philadelphia passing game are tight end L.J. Smith and running back Brian Westbrook. This duo tied for the lead in receptions on the team with 61 apiece. With Reids preference for spreading the ball around, a healthy Westbrook, and an experienced quarterback, are all that’s needed for the Eagles to regain their position in the NFC East.
Expect some big things from your Philadelphia Eagles tickets. The Washington Redskins are coming to town, along with the vastly improved Dallas Cowboys and the upstart New York Giants and Eli Manning. Don’t be surprised if one of these teams is representing the NFC in Super Bowl XLI in Miami. With Donovan McNabb returning as health as he’s ever been, and Andy Reid still running the show, it’s very likely to be the Eagles enjoying the Florida sunshine. But the only way to enjoy the trip is get on board now with Philadelphia Eagles tickets.
