Team Information
Denver Broncos tickets will deliver the big-time, bone-crushing hits that make football fans go wild. Denver has transformed Invesco Field at Mile High into the set of a horror movie, starring an evil linebacker corps that loves to feast on unsuspecting prey coming across the middle. The hard-hitting defense came up big in 2005, leading the Broncos to an AFC West crown and an appearance in the AFC Championship Game, where they would succumb to the eventual Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Head coach Mike Shanahan will be looking to take that next step in the 2006 NFL season.
Last year, the Broncos' defense was second to only AFC West Division rival the San Diego Chargers against the run. Teams managed a meager 85 yards on the ground against Denver, thanks mainly to linebackers D.J. Williams, Ian Gold and Al Wilson. The threatening threesome, who love to take turns delivering knockout blows, are back to stalk running backs and receivers again this year. Gold led the team in tackles in 2005. In his seventh season, the former Michigan Wolverine has established himself as one of the NFL's premier linebackers. The same can be said about Wilson, the veteran of the group. In his eighth professional season, the former Tennessee Volunteer is a relentless ball hawk and has developed a knack at forcing fumbles. Williams is the infant of the corps, but doesn't play like it. The third-year man out of Miami has the speed to make plays all over the football field. As he continues to mature under the nurturing of Gold and Wilson, bigger and better things are expected.
As fantastic as the Broncos' linebackers are, the Denver secondary is just as good. Led by perennial Pro Bowl cornerback Champ Bailey and veteran safety John Lynch, Denver's secondary tormented quarterbacks and simply destroyed receivers who dared to make a play over the middle. Bailey's interception and 99-yard return of a Tom Brady pass helped Denver eliminate the two-time defending Super Bowl champions in the divisional round of the 2005 NFL Playoffs. Lynch has been laying the lumber for 14 professional seasons and earned a Super Bowl ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The defensive line also played a major role in the Broncos' success on defense last year. After several disappointing seasons in Cleveland, Gerard Warren and Courtney Brown Came over to Denver and both experienced breakout years. They combined for five sacks and were two very big reasons it was so tough to run against the Broncos. As everyone knows, defense wins championships in the NFL. Denver has that kind of defense.
The offense, with the addition of wide receiver Javon Walker, is not too shabby either. But as Shanahan knows, the Broncos' ticket to Miami's Dolphins Stadium, site of Super Bowl XLI, lies in the defense's hands. That's a scary thought for opposing offenses that have the unfortunate pleasure of visiting Invesco Field at Mile High. If crushing, jarring tackles are your thing, then so are Denver Broncos tickets. Luckily, owning Denver Broncos football tickets is only a click away.
