Team Information
San Francisco 49ers tickets and a trip to Monster Park should be one of the more interesting NFL excursions in 2006. The 49ers carry a great history, evoking the memory of NFL greats like Joe Montana and Steve Young. The onus is on Alex Smith to carry on that great tradition and head coach Mike Nolan has been actively revamping the roster to give Smith the tools necessary to do the job. Nolan has cleaned house to the extent that only six players remain on the roster from the team he inherited after the 2004 season. The massive overhaul points to a franchise that should be vastly improved over the 4-12 unit of 2005, giving Bay area fans a host of reasons to enjoy their San Francisco 49ers tickets in 2006.
Alex Smith, the #1 overall draft pick of 2005, suffered some growing pains in his first season. In the seven games Smith started the 49ers offense averaged only 95.9 yards. That’s a reflection of the talent surrounding Smith though and the results in 2006 will be considerablt better for several reasons. Smith has spent the entire offseason in San Francisco working with new offensive coordinator Norv Turner to improve his knowledge of the offensive scheme. Remember, Norv Turner is the man that made Troy Aikman a Super Bowl quarterback. If he can accomplish anything close to what he did in Dallas with Alex Smith, the 49ers will enjoy the services of a Pro Bowl quarterback for a long time.
One of the bright spots on the 49ers has been the emergence of running back Frank Gore. As a backup to Kevan Barlow Gore averaged 4.8 yards a carry, rushing 127 times for 608 yards. Barlow will have to work hard to keep his starting position but the combination of the two offers the 49ers to put a pair of running backs on the field that carry very different running styles. Barlow has quick feet and likes to finesse his way through the line. Gore is more of a power runner, hitting the hole hard and bulling his way through. Regardless of which back earns the starting position both will see plenty of action and give 49ers ticket holders plenty of reason to cheer.
Alex Smith will once again be looking at a new group of receivers in 2006. Last season’s leader Brandon Lloyd is now in Washington, leaving the 49ers with some holes to fill. The most likely prospect to step in is the 49ers 1st round draft choice Vernon Davis. The top rated tight end in the draft, Vernon Davis enters camp as the fastest player on the team, running a 4.38 in the 40. If Eric Johnson returns healthy the 49ers should have a pair of productive tight ends that fit nicely into Norv Turners offensive scheme.
It’s been awhile since Monster Park has seen a team that could be labeled a contender. In 2006 49ers tickets are offering a chance to see a team that could surprise a lot of people in the NFC West. The Rams are rebuilding, the Seahawks may be suffering the effects of their Super Bowl loss, and Arizona has been a chronic underachiever. The opportunity is there for the 49ers to make a statement. Will the 49ers make a step up? Can Norv Turner make Alex Smith the next Troy Aikman? Will a trip to Monster Park become a nightmare for opposing NFL teams? These questions can all be answered with 2006 San Francisco 49ers tickets.
