Detroit Lions Team Info

If you’ve been a Lions fan for the last few decades you probably deserve a Playoff game more than any fan in the nation. This season you’ll be looking at another rebuilding Lions team. But before you say “Ho Hum, here we go again” take a minute to look at what’s actually happening.

First of all new head coach Rod Marinelli is well respected and has the credentials to get the job done. Marinelli is also smart enough to surround himself with good assistants. On defense he tabbed coordinator Donnie Henderson to help rebuild a defense that’s been pretty much awful despite having good talent. Between Marinelli and Henderson, the Lions will finally have what they’ve been lacking: Discipline. This is a no nonsense coaching staff that’s going to be demanding and expect players to buy into the system 100%. If not, they won’t have any qualms about saying goodbye to underachievers. That’s good news for Lions fans who are tired of millionaire slackers.

But the true stroke of genius was getting Mike Martz to take over as offensive coordinator. Martz is widely hailed as an offensive genius. The quirky and fiery former head coach won a Super Bowl and designed the NFL’s most productive offense known around the league as “The Greatest Show on Turf.” Just having Martz on staff should upgrade the Lions firepower immensely.
