Team Information
The Arkansas Razorbacks promise their die-hard fans greatness as their recently elected captains also reflect their top scoring ability. Junior Jonathon Modica and sophomore Ronnie Brewer are two of the most impressive players in college basketball right now as Modica was named second-team All-SEC after last season and Brewer made two freshman All-American teams, plus the SEC All-Freshman team. These honors mean more to the two co-captains because they were recognized by the coaches as being exceptional athletes. The expectations are high as Modica and Brewer push to live up to their reputations and even surpass their current level of greatness. Arkansas Razorbacks basketball tickets are flying out of the box office thanks to the fans.
These leaders can be directly attributed to the massive outpouring of fan support so far this season as tickets to the Razorbacks college basketball games are at an all-time high. Modica has the highest returning scoring average of any Razorback, only being shown-up by Williamson in the 1994-95 season. Brewer joins his teammate and co-captain at the top by averaging 12.2 points, solidifying his stance as Arkansas’ returning leader in rebounding, assists and steals.
Head Coach, Stan Heath, has been hard at work rebuilding Arkansas’ program these past few years since he took over in 2002. Constantly bringing in high-rated recruits should give the Razorbacks a winning combination of skill, youth and experience as Heath continues to build his team. Of course having stars like Modica and Brewer to build a team around always helps.
As impressive as this year’s Razorback team is, fans don’t pour into stadiums across the country just to see them play basketball. Tradition runs deep in Arkansas athletics and mascots are a huge part of it. “Big Red” is the traditional Razorback mascot, delighting fans with his tough, intimidating exterior as they cheer their team on to victory. Still, younger fans have begun to bond with “Sue E” and “Pork Chop”, the smaller, slightly less intimidating versions of the Razorback mascot. These die-hard representations of school spirit and pride make appearances at all Arkansas games.
Another integral part of Arkansas athletics is their impressive marching band. It is nationally renowned for its thrilling performances at all Razorback sporting events. A whopping 280 members, piccolos, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, horns, trombones, baritones, tubas, drums, twirlers and drum majors create an atmosphere of excitement and awe for every fan.
The Razorbacks always display an intense desire to excel on and off the court, generating record-number crowds and igniting an atmosphere of intensity and greatness as they play their own style of basketball. Their characteristic “scrappiness” is what sets them apart from their competitors as they prove themselves again and again on the court. As a team determined to excel, being led by nationally-acclaimed players Brewer and Modica, the Razorbacks are destined to put up a show this season. Arkansas Razorback basketball tickets are going fast, so make sure to purchase yours in advance and watch the Razorbacks determinedly fight their way to greatness this season!
