Phoenix Suns Team Info
Once again, due to the exciting play of Steve Nash and the rest of the Suns players, fans are flocking to the games this year. Coach Mike D’Antoni has allowed the Suns to blossom as a fast-breaking, run-and-gun style team that bucks the trend of the defense-first type of basketball that has dominated the NBA over the past decade or so.
Last year, Steve Nash won his second of back-to-back MVP awards and led the Suns back to the Western Conference Finals once again. The Suns faced Nash’s old team and after going seven games the Suns didn’t have enough to defeat Nowitzki, losing the series four games to two. The Suns were further debilitated by a serious knee injury to star player Amare Stoudemire, as well as a foot injury to journeyman Kurt Thomas. Without the stellar play of Stoudemire, which he exhibited the previous year, many critics had written the Suns off long before they even made their run.
One of the most famous of players to ever wear a Suns uniform would have to be the notoriously outspoken Charles Barkley. The all-star player came over for the 1992-1993 season. That first year on the Suns, Barkley won his first and only MVP award on his way to leading the team to the Finals.
Now that Amare Stoudemire has fully recovered from the injury that kept him out of play for almost the entirety of the season, the Suns should once again be at the top of the league in scoring and over all wins. Now that the young player has the much needed experience to go along with the veteran play of Steve Nash and Shawn Marion, the Suns have a lot of upside going into what should be a pivotal season for this franchise. Suns games have been among the most attended in all the NBA the past few seasons, and this possibility of winning it all should ensure that Suns basketball seats will be full this year.
