Dickies 500 Information
Dickie's 500 tickets will get you into the Texas Motor Speedway. But you better hold on once you're in because things are going to start moving even faster than the ticket line pretty quickly. Ticket holders are counting down the days till November 5, 2006 waiting to watch their favorite driver's race around the 1.5 mile track. The Texas Motor Speedway is located in Fort Worth, Texas, in the Denton County section and is home to two NASCAR Nextel Cup races: the Samsung/Radio Shack 500 and the Dickies 500.
Similar to the Atlanta Motor Speedway and the Lowe's Motor Speedway, the track allows high speed races and adrenaline rushes for all who watch. The track measures 1.5 miles around and has turns of 24 degrees, and follows the quad oval design, where the front straight away pushes outward slightly. Speedway Motor Sports owns the Texas Motor speedway as well as Atlanta and Lowe's Motor Speedways and Bristol. But the Texas Motor Speedway is known for being fast. Really fast. Due to the high speed reports on qualification from 2004 and 2005, the Texas Motor Speedway can now be considered the fastest non-restrictor plate track on the NASCAR circuit. With on track qualifying speeds of 200mph, the action is electric. Drivers can plow into the turns at high speed and come out even faster. That breathtaking speed is what makes Dickies 500 tickets and a day at Texas Motor Speedway such a great combination. NASCAR fans at the 2005 Dickies 500 got to witness Carl Edwards come from out of the pack to claim the win. Edwards hung around the contenders for most of the race, telling his pit crew that he needed to come out of the last caution period in 6th place or better to win the race. True to form, Edwards came out in 6th place, passed Mark Martin with only one lap to go, and cruised to the finish line as the leader. It was Edwards 4th win in 47 starts driving his #99. Edwards let the rest of the NASCAR world know he would be in the chase for the Nextel Cup with his second consecutive victory, having won the MBNA 500 only one week before. Edwards is also the first driver to win a Busch Series and a Nextel Cup Series race on the same weekend. His Busch Series win came in the Aaron's 312 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. The next day, he cruised to a narrow victory over Jimmie Johnson in the Golden Corral 500 to make history. Edwards picked up his second and third wins in 2005 in the Nextel Cup series winning the Pocono 500 at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania and the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. With all the winning Carl Edwards continues to show, make sure to get your Dickies 500 tickets before November 5 to see if Edwards will continue his winning ways.
