Event Information
Orlando's Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium is still buzzing about last year's thrilling finish to the Capital One Bowl. The excitement generated by Iowa's miracle victory over Nick Saban's LSU Tigers will be bubbling over by the time the 60th annual Capital One Bowl, formerly known as the Florida Citrus Bowl, kicks off at 1 p.m. EST, on January 1, 2007.
One of the oldest and most storied holiday traditions, the Capital One Bowl annually produces an electric atmosphere that encompasses Orlando way before the game kicks off. Two of the nation's elite college football programs from the SEC and Big Ten will once again be featured at the Capital One Bowl.
Last year, the Big Ten claimed conference supremacy in dramatic fashion. In Saban's final game as LSU's front man, the Tigers stored from behind to take a 25-24 lead with only few ticks of the clock left. The celebration in Baton Rouge was already beginning. But it was premature. On the last play of the game, Iowa's Drew Tate launched a high-arching spiral deep down the field. Hawkeye senior receiver Warren Holloway, who hadn't caught a touchdown all season, found himself open behind the Tiger secondary. He hauled in Tate's Hail Mary and scooted into the end zone as time expired to give the Hawkeyes the improbable victory.
What's in store at the 2007 Capital One Bowl? Will the SEC have its revenge or the Big Ten flex its muscle again? The game shifts from its normal New Year's Day slot to 1 p.m., EST, on January 2, but the celebration won't be hindered. 2007 Capital One Bowl tickets are a must-have for any college football fan.
