Event Information
James Paul McCartney was born in Liverpool on June 18, 1942, and immediately realized a love for music that few in this world can relate to. McCartney wrote his first song at the age of 14 and when he was 15, he met John Lennon and joined “The Quarrymen,” his first band. Less than three years later, Paul would join Lennon in his formation of a band called the Beatles. He released his own solo album, two weeks before the Beatles released “Let It Be,” the final album the band would release before their breakup.
During the 1990s, McCartney didn’t tour as much and focused on studio work that was beginning to slip a bit. On April 17, 1998, Paul’s wife Linda lost her three-year battle with breast cancer. The loss was felt around the world and brought the three living Beatles together for the first time in nearly 30 years. Even more recently, McCartney released “Driving Rain” in 2001 and “Back in the U.S.: Live 2002.” McCartney is also back on tour in support of his recent releases.
