Event Information
Norah Jones, who vaulted onto the music scene due to her ability to blend pop with hints of jazz and blues, signed a deal with the jazz section of Blue Note Records and released her debut album, “Come Away With Me,” in 2002. Before listening to the album itself, many accused Jones of riding the coattails of her famous father, saying she was only getting an album because of her relations to people in music. Others accused Jones of simply being a pretty face who lacked the talent to have any kind of staying power in the business. Of course, after listening to the album, it was almost impossible to say the same statements and it was easy to see she would likely be around for a long time.
Behind the success of singles like “The Nearness of You” and the title track, among others, Jones managed to sell almost 20 million copies of “Come Away With Me” and earned an amazing eight Grammy awards in the process. After taking some time away to rest and let her incredible achievements sink in, Jones still wasn’t satisfied and went back in to the studio to prove her debut album was no fluke. In 2004, she released “Feels Like Home” which debuted well and carried the momentum from her previous success. Since then, Jones has been the focal point of a successful tour and even had a small part in the movie“Two Weeks Notice” along with Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock.
